Promoting community economic competitiveness through technical input and applied research.
Virginia Tech's engagement with communities is a critical part of its land grant mission. Groups across the university from Cooperative Extension to the College of Architecture offer important services to communities wrestling with economic development questions. The Office of Economic Development, working with faculty experts from around the university, provides communities with sound technical advice and a trusted venuefor policy discussions.
We work in large and small communities and anything in between. Our projects range from working with local, regional and state-wide government officials and planning commissions to trade associations and community organizations.
