The Office of Economic Development (OED) helps Virginia communities find their paths to prosperity by providing leadership in many areas of economic development, including technology, workforce, entrepreneurship, and community development.

The Office of Economic Development provides services that include:

  • Economic impact analyses (example: Virginia Tech Football Impact Study)

  • Industry studies

  • Feasibility studies

  • Workforce studies

  • Visioning projects

  • Connecting businesses and communities with on-campus or local resources

With our main campus location in Blacksburg and additional locations in the National Capital Region and Hampton Roads (coming soon), the Office of Economic Development is able to work with businesses, governments, and nonprofits across Virginia--from the coalfield counties to Northern Virginia.

As a liaison between communities and Virginia Tech, we can provide unique resources to our clients and connect the diverse resources of Virginia Tech with efforts to encourage statewide economic growth.
